Description

Leading for Quality is an innovative programme bringing together leadership and quality improvement.

The L4Q New Leaders Programme is a free to access programme designed to actively support new leaders who are passionate about improving the quality of patient care in their teams, organisations and the wider health care system and who want to develop the skills to bring about real service improvements.

You will be aiming to become more effective in building the relationships to achieve real change: you will want to learn how to engage more successfully with patients and a wide range of multi-professional colleagues to improve services; you will be interested in exploring and understanding wider health and social care services, how to work across the wider health system, and what the changing policy context means for care; you will want to work on your own leadership skills and qualities, to become a more self-aware, influential and effective leader.

This 5-month Programme incorporates the high quality online learning materials of the Edward Jenner Programme produced by the NHS Leadership Academy with 5 days of workshops aimed at developing your leadership skills alongside undertaking a quality improvement initiative. It also gives you the opportunity to meet new leaders from across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

The programme consists of four modules. Between modules, you will be asked to work on a real quality improvement initiative. You will draw on your practical, relevant work experience, and use this actively to reflect and inform your thinking during the programme sessions.

The programme themes are

  • Me as a leader of Quality Improvement

  • Engaging with others to improve services

  • Working across the system: Change and Culture

  • Leading Sustainable Change

There is a series of masterclasses running alongside this programme, and you will be expected to attend at least one.
